After leaving school I went to work at boarding kennels, which I really enjoyed but unfortunately this was only a temporary position, so I then went into retail. I continued in retail for five years, constantly looking for an occupation that involved working with animals, but with no success until now. During my five years in retail I gained valuable customer service and care skills which I put to use every day.

I grew up in a farm environment and as a child had many pets, from horses to rabbits, including my much loved dogs. I currently have two Rottweilers, a Collie cross, two rabbits and some bantam chickens. As I was brought up on a farm, I have a real passion for all animals great and small and love nothing more than being outdoors, whatever the weather.

I horse-ride regularly as my mother owns a farm and has nine horses, including a stallion and two foals. She also has three cocker spaniels, a German Shepherd and two cats (called Tom & Jerry!). I have looked after all of my mother’s animals on several occasions while she has been on holiday - once including a very snowy Christmas.

I have done pet sitting for other family members and friends when I have looked after horses, dogs, free range hens, a goat, cats, ducks, an African grey parrot and a pond full of koi carp. I also have other friends who own reptiles that I have handled regularly with ease.

Estelle Silver

Estelle grew up surrounded by dogs and cats and has had a lifelong love of animals, both domestic and wild. She has been involved in animal welfare, animal rescue and habitat conservation for more than 20 years. Estelle has, in the past, volunteered for Cats’ Protection, with a view to contributing outstanding animal care, welfare and education standards on a practical level by fostering cats, vetting homes and rehoming cats in need. She has also fostered and taken care of cats for friends.

These days Estelle volunteers at a local animal rescue centre, where there are cats, dogs, guinea pigs, hamsters, rabbits, chickens, pigs, goats, horses, ducks, wild birds, hedgehogs and a bull.

As a law graduate and qualified tax professional, Estelle has worked in many sectors including financial, legal, industrial and service, but finds animal care the most rewarding and fulfilling. Her experience in all sectors has given her valuable customer focus and financial experience and provided her with a professional and friendly outlook. Estelle is hardworking, reliable and trustworthy.

Estelle also advises on rabbit behaviour problems and currently lives with her two rabbits and three cats.
